The city of Rio de Janeiro will celebrate Labor’s Day on the 1st of May – a day dedicated to workers that celebrate their great achievements throughout history. Also on the first day of the month and the second, Rio will hold the “Orchids In The Garden” exhibition which will be held under the “Flowers Of May” theme. This exhibition will offer a cultivation course as well as a workshop and the participation of the main associations, commercial orchid farms and of course, sales stands for potential buyers. This event will be held at Jardim Botânico – Rua Jardim Botânico, 1008 – Jardim Botânico.

“Victory Day” is celebrated by Rio de Janeiro celebrates, which is homage to the Unknown Soldier on the 8th of the month. On this day, military ceremonies commemorating the anniversary of the Allied Victory in WW2 will be presided over by the President of the Republic. The venue for this important historical event will be Aterro do Flamengo – Av. Infante Dom Henrique, s/nº – Flamengo. The Health Level Seven International will hold an international working group meeting which will gather 34 countries together with the ISO-TC215 Committee to adopt the standards for interoperability of health information technology internationally between 10 and 14 of May.

For something a little more cheerful, Goal Promoções will organize the “Brides And Parties Expo 2010″ between 12-16 of May. The event will be the home of products and services dealing with weddings as well as wedding anniversaries, company receptions and 15th birthday celebrations. There will be held various fashion shows along with free mini courses and an artistic cake exhibition. The venue for the event will be at Riocentro – GL Events Centro de Convenções – Av. Salvador Allende, 6.555 – Pavilhões 1, 2, 3 and 4 – Jacarepaguá. An art exhibition will be held between 20 and 21 of May at Museu de Arte Moderna – MAM – Av. Infante Dom Henrique, 85 – Parque Brigadeiro Eduardo Gomes – Aterro do Flamengo.

There are many events which will be held in May in 2010, just like any other month of the year, to prove once again that Rio de Janeiro is the city where people never go to sleep, something is always happening making “boredom” an extinct word.
